| Another beautiful town, Taos
is known for more than skiing. Not far from the town is the Rio Grande Gorge, an amazing site to see. The bridge that spans the gorge may not seem very impressive, especially since you can hardly see it until you reach it. The reason is that the gorge is basically carved into a huge, flat plateau. All of a sudden the gorge appears, plummeting over 600 ft below the plateau. You are quickly impressed by the height of the gorge and the bridge as you peer over the side of the bridge, dizzy from the height and the vibrations of the bridge from passing trucks. |

The Taos Pueblo is one
of the largest, still inhabited Pueblos. Life here is virtually the same as it was centuries ago - no running water (the creek running through the Pueblo serves as water source) and no electricity. Indian artists sell various works of art, pottery and other items. Shown on the left is someone's oven being pre-heated for baking bread. | ||
